Level 1 – Basic Commands
Level 1 introduces the basic commands sit, down, stationary attention, four on the floor, and the name game. We’ll also work on problem behaviors such as jumping, play-biting, and house training. All dogs (even those with prior training) must start in Level 1.
Requirements to move to Level 2: Dog can sit on command, respond to his name with mild distractions, and keep all four paws on the floor when greeted by an instructor.
Level 2 – Manners Training
We work on walking politely on a loose leash without pulling, paying attention to the owner while walking, and ignoring other dogs. We also begin working on come and stay. Level 2 includes problem-solving information for behaviors such as barking, digging, chewing, etc.
Requirements to move to Level 3: Dog walks nicely around the training area with attention on owner and no pulling with other dogs 4-5 feet away. A dog will come when called on a leash with mild distractions.
Level 3 – Adding Distractions
We work on long-distance come command, stay with distractions, loose-leash walking past distractions, and distance commands.
Requirements to move to Level 4: Dog will stay for 1 minute with mild distractions. The dog will walk on a loose leash past other dogs with a leash over the owner’s shoulder. The dog will come from 20 feet away with moderate distractions.
Level 4 – Advanced Training
We work on polishing the come command and teaching an emergency come, strengthen the stay command by teaching the dog to stay for longer periods of time at greater distances from the owner, work on turns, and automatic sit when loose leash walking.
Level 4 goals: Dog can walk at owner’s side off leash past other dogs and distractions. The dog will stay 10 feet away from the owner for 3 minutes with distractions. The dog will come off-leash past distractions from 30 feet away

Introductory/Special Classes Available
Fun Fur Pets also offers a few classes to help prepare dogs for Levels Training.
- Is your dog shy, timid?
- Does your dog cower away from new situations, dogs, or people?
Your pup is what we call a Cautious Canine and we have a special class designed just for him/her. In the Cautious Canine class, we limit the number of dogs and provide a calmer, quieter environment to allow your dog to gain confidence. We work specifically on exercises and skills to build your dog’s confidence and get them ready to enter regular Levels Training classes or just to better deal with life and new environments.
- Does your dog lunge and/or bark at other dogs and/or people?
- Do you walk your dog early in the morning or late at night to avoid other dogs and people?
If so our Reactive Dog Class is designed for you and your dog. In this class, we teach you and your dog how to cope with scary/startling situations.
All Reactive Dogs are required to attend at least 2 virtual Name Your Pain Classes to learn basic techniques in the comfortable surroundings of their own home. Learning these techniques at home BEFORE attending a Reactive Dog In-Person class will help make your first in-person class much more successful.
After attending a minimum of 2 Virtual Name your Pain classes, you can sign up for a Reactive Dog class. We limit the number of dogs in the class to allow you to learn how to manage situations with other dogs and people as well as teach your dog skills to cope and gain confidence so they aren’t as reactive. This class will help prepare your dog to enter regular Levels Training classes or how to cope with daily life.
- Do you have a new puppy?
- Does your puppy (must have their Rabies and be between 12 weeks and 10 months of age) need to learn proper play behavior with other puppies?
- Does your puppy need friends and to burn some energy?
In our Puppy Socialization class, your puppy will play with other puppies off-leash and you will help supervise with an instructor so you can learn proper play behavior and teach your puppy basic manners with other dogs and people off-leash. Your puppy can participate in Levels Training along with Puppy Socialization classes.
